If you are thinking about buying kratom, it helps to first know what you are choosing and what to pay attention to. In this guide we calmly explain what kratom is, what the colours mean, whether it is legal and how to use it responsibly. We make no health promises along the way.
What is kratom?
Kratom is the dried and ground leaf of Mitragyna speciosa, a tree from Southeast Asia. It is usually sold as a powder. The information on our site is for educational purposes and not medical advice.
Red, green or white kratom?
The colour refers to the vein colour of the leaf and the character attributed to it. Users describe red as the most relaxing variant, white as the most uplifting and green as the balance in between. The choice is about preference, not about whether care is needed. You can read more about this in the difference between the varieties.
Is kratom legal in the Netherlands?
Kratom is currently freely available in the Netherlands and does not fall under the Opium Act. We sell exclusively to people aged 18 and over.
How do you choose as a beginner?
Start modestly and consciously choose a colour that fits what you are looking for. Before you begin, read our guide on learning to use kratom safely. Never combine kratom with alcohol or other sedatives, and be aware of the risk of dependence with regular use.
Where can you buy kratom safely?
Look for a shop that is transparent about origin and freshness, that gives honest information and that is willing to talk you out of it. You will find our checklist in what makes the best smartshop. If you take medication, are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor first or leave it be.
This article is informational and not medical advice. Do not use kratom during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, while taking medication (consult your doctor first) or under the age of 18. If you have a history of addiction, be extra cautious.
