We get questions about kratom every day, and most of them come down to the same things. So here are the ten most asked, answered briefly. Want to go deeper? Each answer links to a full article.
1. What is kratom?
Dried, ground leaf of the Mitragyna speciosa, a tropical tree from Southeast Asia and a member of the coffee family. See also kratom leaves: from tree to powder.
2. Is kratom legal in the Netherlands?
Yes, kratom does not fall under the Dutch Opium Act. It is banned in some other countries, so do not take it on your travels.
3. What is the difference between red, green and white?
The vein colour of the leaf and the processing after harvest. Users describe red as the most relaxed, white as the most uplifting and green as the balance. See the choice guide.
4. How much kratom do you take?
The common start is 1 to 2 grams as tea, patient waiting included. Our products mention 4 to 5 grams as a usual amount for those who know how they respond; most people build up to that calmly. A precision scale makes it exact.
5. What will you notice?
That differs per person and per amount, and we make no promises about it. What users describe, and what we deliberately do not claim, is in kratom effects: what users report.
6. Is kratom addictive?
Regular use can lead to tolerance and dependence, and we are honest about that. Most conscious users leave days in between. Read how often is too often.
7. Can you combine kratom with alcohol or medication?
The combination with alcohol and sedatives is known to be dangerous, and with medication your doctor is the right conversation partner. This is the point on which we are least light-hearted.
8. How do you prepare kratom?
The classic is tea: powder in water of 70 to 95 degrees Celsius, steep for a few minutes. See also kratom powder: how it is made and used.
9. Where do you buy good kratom?
From a seller who is honest about origin and risks, and promises no miracles. What to look for is in buying kratom powder in the Netherlands. Our own range is here. Note: we currently ship within the Netherlands only.
10. Who should not use kratom?
We simply do not sell under 18, and during pregnancy, breastfeeding or when taking medication your doctor is the right conversation partner. A history of addiction is worth weighing in, precisely because of how kratom works. You know your own situation best; if in doubt, we are happy to think along by email.
