Thinking about buying magic truffles, but not sure what to look for yet? This guide walks calmly through every step: what truffles are, whether they are legal, which type suits you, where to order safely, how to prepare and when it is better to wait a while. No sales talk, just honest explanation.
What are magic truffles?
Magic truffles, also called sclerotia, are underground nodules of certain fungi. They contain psilocybin, the same substance found in magic mushrooms. The difference is that truffles and mushrooms are different parts of related fungi. At a full dose, many people experience changes in perception, mood and thoughts. How strong that is depends on the type and the amount.
Are magic truffles legal in the Netherlands?
Yes. Magic truffles are legally permitted in the Netherlands. Since the mushroom ban of 2008, the mushrooms themselves are prohibited, but the truffles, or sclerotia, remained legal. You do have to be 18 or older. We sell only to adults and ask for age verification with your order.
Which type of magic truffles do you choose?
The types differ mainly in strength. For a first time, a mild type such as the Tampanensis or the Mexicana is the common starting point, and you build up calmly from there. Experienced users sometimes choose a stronger type, but a stronger truffle is not better, just stronger. We have laid this out in detail in which magic truffles suit you. You will find the full range on the magic truffles page.
Where do you buy magic truffles safely?
Not every shop is the same. Look for honest information rather than sales talk, availability for personal questions, clarity about origin and freshness, and transparency about the risks. A trustworthy shop will also tell you when it is not the right moment for you. Our full checklist is in what makes the best smartshop. Also look for discreet shipping without a logo and a secure payment page.
How do you prepare?
Good preparation makes the difference. Your mental state and your surroundings, set and setting, largely shape how your experience unfolds. Take your time, choose a safe place and ideally arrange for a sober sitter. Before you begin, read your first time with truffles and set and setting.
When is it better to wait?
Sometimes the best guidance is: not right now. For example during a difficult period, while taking certain medication, with a personal or family history of psychosis or bipolar disorder, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or when you are looking for a quick fix. We have set this out honestly in when it is better not to buy magic truffles.
Delivery and freshness
Fresh truffles keep for only a limited time, so freshness counts. We ship fresh truffles from Monday to Thursday, usually with delivery within 1 to 2 working days via PostNL, discreetly packaged without a logo. After you receive them, keep them chilled and sealed, and use them before the best before date.
